Bad Drag

My first time in Key West but not my first drag show by a long shot. Saw a Saturday night at 9pm show and the gay/straight ration seemed about 60/40 in favor of the straights. Worst drag I have ever seen! Gugi did nothing but fart & tampon jokes all night long - and they weren't funny. Kylie couldn't be bothered to shave and had absolutely no rhythm at all. She just kept kicking her leg out all night, at times almost hitting people in the front row. You know a drag queen is bad when all they can do is grab someone's head, stuff it under their skirt and hump. Deja was the only one who seemed to care about her performances. And if they had shoved that damn tip bucket into my face one more time, I would have started taking money out of it. Gugi, I paid my cover charge, so do something worthwhile and I'll tip you. I would never go back to this show again. The bar was nice but there are better on Duvall.

The drag show was great, we got drunk and had a great time! The bar tenders took care of us garciously, needless to say a banging hangover the next day! The girls were gave hilariously great shows, although a few beg hard for the tips! More gay people here during the show!

OMG - Loved This Bar

May have had something to do with the sexy, hairy chested (Richard?) or the very friendly punters... Didn't make the drag show upstairs, but judging by the crowds, it was very popular. The darker 'other' bar was also fun, showing hot videos - it had a horny, cruisey feel which was great. This would be the bar I headed to first when I go back!

Nice hangout downstairs

'Never saw the drag show upstairs, but we did hang out downstairs at 801 a lot. It's a comfortable, "Cheers-y" experience where the bartender (Greg, cute and nice) learns your name and takes care of you every time you come in. No cover downstairs, and the drinks were well made and well priced. Decor could be a little better, and there was never a crowd, but if you just want a good drink and great service, 801 is the place.

Just a horrible messy show. Expected more being the longest drag show on the island. The only good thing was the dance stairs bar and Matt the bartender. Nice friendly guy and quick service.

Not worth the 10.00 cover

Atmosphere in AQUA is much more casual and entertaining. They charge 10.00 for the show (not negotiable) and the second you walk up there, they push a tip bucket in your face and they are very aggressive with the bucket after every performance. I totally get that they work from tips, but when you are already paying 10.00, let it be an option. The few nights I was there this past week, it was totally dead. They would do a lot more business (in drinks) and make a lot more in tips if they waived the cover (at least during the week). I know these performers work very hard and they deserve to make more money.

As a Key West repeat offender, I've gotten used to the plethora of straight tourists off the cruise ships. 801 always has a GREAT show and Brad knows how to pour liquor strong! It's always a great time and even more fun to watch the cringing biker-dudes while their wives sing along. Love it!

This was my first time to Key West. It's all tourists. We finally found this gay bar and the bartender was rude. The atmosphere was anything but gay. Tourists were in and out the door. Men and women couples were everywhere. Stay away from this place and Key West.

fun after 10

bourbon st bar is especially fun after 10pm, when the go go boys get going, and the girls are gone, (girls are allowed till 10) it it especially fun on underwear party nights on the crowded dance floor in your jockey shorts!

The 801 Bourbon is always on my to-do list when going to Key West! Always a great show and a great time! I love how the girls always get the crowd involved! Last year they started a cover charge - that was kind of a bummer, oh well! Make sure to bring plenty of money, nothing like tucking bucks and drinking good drinks!

Always a great drag show almost every night of the week in the upstairs bar. A great place for out-of-towners/tourists to check out. The smaller, intimate environment is not for the shy. Be prepared to get called out by some of the island's sassiest men in wigs. Featured on CNN and MTV's The Real World.
